WHAT'S NEW

I contributed a chapter to The Children’s Media Yearbook 2026!
My article, "Blaming Video Games is Easy; Understanding Violence is Not", takes a critical look at how we talk about video games and violence, and why the popular narrative falls far short of the evidence.
Edited by Helen Freeman and Hannie Kirkham, and published by The Children's Media Foundation, this edition brings together leading voices in children's media from across the industry and academia. The book will be officially launched at The Children's Media Conference (CMC) in the UK in early July.

on 16 June 2026, our latest paper was presented by my co-author Deniz Özyurda Ergen, “Diablerie of a Lore: A Comparative Analysis of Gaming Pleasure in Bloodlines and Bloodlines 2” at DIGRA 2026! The paper explores the nuances of player experience across these two titles. I invite you to check it out and share your thoughts!
Based on my doctoral thesis, my current study is on horror video games in Türkiye. The project is supported by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye).
